Who manages the switching process?

The switching process is delivered by participating banks in Aotearoa New Zealand and governed by Payments NZ — an independent organisation that sets shared standards for payments.

The standards include:

  • A five-business-day timeframe for the current bank to provide information to your new bank
  • Standardised forms and processes across banks
  • Switching support teams at participating banks.
